Pilar was born in Rome in 1975. After a degree in Political Science and the subsequent Master in Entertainment Management at Bocconi University in Milan, she began her professional journey in the live entertainment industry before moving on to the world of cinema. Her transition sees her working for the renowned Italian movie production houses, Filmauro and Wildside, and in 2012 she finally decides to start her own company: Moliwood Films - subsequently known as Palosanto Films.
After ten years, 2022 marks the birth of her new production startup, Sajama Films, of which she is sole partner and CEO. With this new endeavour, she aims to produce new emergent talent and promote the language of contemporary Italian auteur cinema by developing original storytelling with a strong filmic identity.
In 2023 she co-produces LUKA by Jessica Woodworth, a movie based on the distinguished novel The Desert of the Tartars by Italian writer Dino Buzzati. This film premiered at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam. She has also co-produced the animation movie Linda veut du poulet! recently awarded at Festival d'Annecy 2023.
In 2021 she co-produces the picture The Story of my Wife by Ildikó Enyedi, which was selected for the main competition at the 74th Festival de Cannes.
In 2022 she became the university lecturer of Management of the Cinematic Industries at LUM University in Rome. As of 2023, she is a member of the Franco Solinas Prize Jury, as well as an official member of the European Film Academy.
