GALA GRACIA

  • Upon learning of the sudden death of her father, Sara renounces her bright future as a prominent jazz pianist and returns to Spain to rediscover her family’s bucolic identity. Eventually she decides to uphold this legacy, turning what was once her bustling, jazzified lifestyle into a pastoral medley. Ultimately, persisting through the trials and tribulations of single-handedly maintaining her late father’s sheep farm. These are the cornerstone elements that make up this picture: jazz music, the austere mountainous environment, family and legacy—all are channelled within this touching “return to your roots” story.

  • Gala Gracia, author and director of multiple award-winning short films such as El Color de la Sed (2017) and La Pared (2020), debuts with her first full-length feature which is a semi- autobiographical dramatisation of her own experience, when after a similar misfortune, she took the reigns of her family’s farm.
